2009 Winner Chris Langford

July saw the second “English Ladies’ International Senior Open” take place at Cambridge Meridian Golf Club.
The 3 day, 54 hole event which was played over 14th, 15th & 16th July, saw competitors arrive from as far afield as the USA, France, Germany, Belguim, Netherlands and from across the UK.  Last years winner, Rica Comstock also flew in from the USA to defend her title.
Heavy rain was seen during the first days play but this did not stop some excellent scores were being returned. The leader for the day was Chris Langford with 73 gross and closely behind her was Cathy Panton-Lewis and Helen Reid both with 76 gross.
The second days play proved to be just as diffiercult with some very strong winds but again this did not deter the golfers. Chris Langford again had an excellent round and stretched her lead with a score of 75 gross for the day, which gave her an overall combined score of 148 gross over the 2days so far. In second place with an combined score of 154 gross was Cathy Panton-Lewis and Jane Rees in third with 157.
The weather for the last days play couldn’t of been better. With the sun shining  and the course in excellent condition, the competitors played to close the gap between the top of the leaderboard and the bottom.  At the turn some good golf had been played by all and this was proved with the gap between the three top positions  closing.  Corinne Reybroeck played a blinder of a game and returned as the winner for the day and a new course record holder with a score of 72 gross. In second place for the day was Rica Comstock with 73 gross and in a close third place was Jane Rees with 74 grosss. However with a score for the day of 78 gross and a combined overall score for the event of 226 gross Chris Langford was crowned as the winner for the tournament.  In second place overall was Cathy Panton-Lewis with 230 gross. Overall net winner for the competition was Jane Rees with a score of 222. Chris Langford came second with a score of 226.
Closing the tournament Chris thanked everbody at the club and all her competitors for an excellent standard of golf which had been played over the 3days. She wished all well and said: “I look forward to coming back next year to see you all again and defend my title”

This years Captains and Invitation day which was held on Sunday 19th July. Saw an excellent field of 97 players took to the course. Many of the players were guests of members of the club which made for a good atmosphere for the day.

With the course in an excellent condition, play got under way in a Stableford format. The early players got away with the best of the weather and started to return some very good scores but unfortunatly the rain crept in and this definatly changed the game.

Although most players came in a slightly damp from them frequent downpours. The mood of all the competitiors was of good spirits.

The Mens Captain Dave Reid put on an excellent day and presented the prizes for the days best golf. In first place with a score of 38pts (ocb) was Harry Tteralli, Dave Proctor came in second with 38pts (ocb) and in third place was Derick Wick with 36pts (ocb)

The following guests were placed in the following, 1st S Chamberlain 35pts, 2nd N Oregan 34pts (ocb) & E Hall 34pts (ocb)
