Julie Walter & Norman Ewing
Cambridge Meridian Golf Club was selected to be the venue of the “Cambs & Hunts” Ladies’ County Championship over the weekend of the 8th, 9th & 10th May 2009.

38 lady golfers from clubs across the region arrived at the club on Friday 8th to complete 36 holes of stroke play to guarantee one of 32 places available in the championship to be played over the next two days.
With the course in excellent condition, the ladies’ started out on brilliant form and have to be commended on thier resilience and spirit as the weather conditions worsened. Day 3 – Sunday 10th
Now on day 3 of this prestigious event the last 8 were setting their eyes on one thing, the Championship. The playing conditions on the day were excellent with very little wind and bright sunshine.
The 8 semi finalist showed the same grit and determination as they had done so on the first day and played the course to its best. This was shown in some of the best golf to be played over the three days with one match, Marcella Tuttle’s being taken down the 19th. With the morning’s golf being completed, we now had our finalist for the Plate Competition and County Championship.
Plate Competition Finalist
-
Tina Broadley from winning 2 & 1
-
Marcella Tuttle from winning 1 up on the 19th
County Championship finalist
-
Caroline Agnew from winning 3 & 2
-
Julie Walter from winning 3 & 2
The afternoon started with the plate competition and both ladies’ showed the way, playing one for one until the 8th when Tina made her move to go one up. Marcella played great golf and fought hard to keep in the game but was finally defeated and Tina won the match 6 & 5.
The Championship was the last to go and with a great following of supporters both Caroline and Julie played golf, which was pure magic to witness. Again a very closely fought match, which kept everybody on tender hooks, was finally won by Julie Walter winning 3 & 2.
The Plate and County Championship were sponsored and presented by Norman Ewing of Ewing Associates.
The 3 day event was an outstanding success and congratulations have to go out to all the competitors, organisers and supporters who took part, especially to Julie Walter on being crowned Ladies’ “County Champion 2009″

Did I really do that??????
Danny Lans sees his return to the club with a beauti of a shot.
Teeing up on the 17th on a somewhat cold and windy bank holiday Monday. Danny strikes his ball with some professionalism to send it flying over the lake and hit home on target and sink it to the bottom of the cup in one.
Celebrations took place in the clubhouse after the game with a couple of swift pints and the ringing of the “Hole in One” bell.
All congratulate Danny on his first “Hole in One”.
