Saturday 18th April saw a Cambridge Meridian team playing away in the “Jock Stewart” Cup at Brampton Golf Club.
The Meridian took a team of six, Chris Drake and Gubby Panesar leading off followed by Manoj Patel and Vinnie Green with the two new boys in the last group being Ed Sandford and Lewis MacNamara.
Another tough draw away from home but Cambridge Meridian came through to win 2 matches to 1 and now face St Neots or Bar Hill in the next round.
Chris and Gubby came through 3 and 2 winners with Manoj and Vinnie winning on the 18th.
Ed and Lewis finally lost 2 down having levelled from one stage being 3 down.
Another great team effort.

The second of the “Daily Mail” was played at Gifton Golf Club.
Our team for this match was made up of Chris Drake, Dave Reid, Manoj Patel, Steve Gedny & Nick Bosher.
This was always going to be a tough match against a strong Girton side on their home course. Things were going well, with Cambridge Meridian looking the likely winners at the half way stage but a strong fight back by the home team resulted in them winning 3 and a half to 1 and a half. Manoj kept his 100% record by coming from 3 down again to win. Chris came in with a half. Steve, Dave and Bosh all lost on the 18th, all in all a very close match.
Well done to Girton Golf Club and thanks for a good match.
